How to Complete Contracts — Objectives, Turn-ins, and Team Routing

Contracts are West Wood’s most important daylight tool. Press G on PC or Y/Triangle on console immediately after spawning and your run immediately has direction, purpose, and a reward structure. This guide covers how to read contracts, route objectives efficiently, and recover when a contract goes wrong.

Why Contracts Are the First Thing You Open

Without contracts, four players loot four random buildings and regroup with no shared progress. With contracts, the team moves toward the same building, picks up the same objective items, and turns them in at the same landmark — earning soul coins and making visible advancement toward badge thresholds.

Contracts also force you to explore parts of the map you would otherwise skip. That map knowledge is exactly what keeps you alive on night three when the creature is patrolling and you need to sprint a route you learned on day two.

Opening and Reading Contracts

On PC, G opens the contract panel. On console, it is Y or Triangle. The panel shows available objectives with three key pieces of information:

  1. Objective type — what item to collect or where to go
  2. Turn-in location — the landmark where you complete the objective
  3. Reward — soul coin payout and any bonus items

Read all options aloud. Do not let one person decide privately — the whole squad should hear the route, distance, and risk before committing.

Objective Types

Collection Contracts

Find a specific item somewhere on the map and bring it to a turn-in point. Common examples include canned goods, vehicle parts, and supply crates. These reward exploration and map knowledge.

Location Contracts

Visit a specific building or landmark and confirm presence. These reward route learning and often have shorter completion times than collection contracts.

Delivery Contracts

Pick up an item at one location and deliver it to another. Night delivery contracts are the most challenging — they require the squad to travel during darkness with the creature active. The Night Deliveries guide covers these in depth.

Team Routing Strategy

Step 1: Choose One Primary Contract

Do not accept every contract simultaneously. Pick the one with the best route convergence — the building that is closest to other useful landmarks, or the turn-in point that is on the way back to your safehouse.

Step 2: Assign Roles

  • Carrier — the player who holds the objective item and must reach the turn-in point
  • Escort — a player who travels with the carrier and watches for the creature
  • Navigator — calls house numbers and routes; keeps the carrier on the fastest path
  • Supply runner — stays near the safehouse and can resupply the carrier if they need food, water, or healing

Step 3: Sync with Daylight

Abandon contracts that require far-map travel once dusk approaches. A half-completed contract that leaves you caught in the open at night is worse than no contract at all. Turn in whatever you have before the sky darkens.

Step 4: Turn In Before Night

When possible, complete the turn-in before darkness. This banks the soul coins and removes the objective item from your inventory — freeing up space and removing the risk of losing progress if the carrier dies.

Contract Failure Recovery

When the Carrier Dies

If the player holding the objective item dies, the item may drop or be lost. The squad has two options:

  • Send one player to recover the dropped item and complete the delivery
  • Abandon the contract and focus on survival

Never send the whole squad on a recovery mission if the creature is active. One player recovers; the rest hold the safehouse.

When the Route is Blocked

If the creature is patrolling the turn-in location, do not push. Mark the contract as temporarily blocked and choose a different objective. A living team completes contracts tomorrow; a dead team completes nothing.

When the Objective Item Does Not Spawn

Some contracts reference items that may not appear in every session due to random loot tables. If you have searched the indicated location and the item is not there, abandon the contract — do not waste daylight chasing a ghost spawn.

Contract-Driven Badge Runs

Several Roblox badges reward contract-related achievements:

  • Contract completion streaks — complete multiple contracts in one session
  • First turn-in — your first successful delivery
  • Long-distance delivery — complete a delivery at the far end of the map
  • Night delivery — deliver during active night hours

Use the Badge Tracker to monitor which contract badges your squad is close to unlocking, and plan daylight runs accordingly.

Contract Abandonment Rules

If a contract has failed twice, abandon it. Sunk cost applies — do not chase a payout that has already cost two failed attempts. Redirect the squad to a fresh objective with a better route.

Communicate abandonment clearly. Say “dropping contract, new objective is…” so every player knows the shared direction has changed.

Contracts and Soul Coin Synergy

Every completed contract pays soul coins. Stack contract completion with medallion purchase sessions by saving enough coins to buy at least one medallion per trip to the dealer. This prevents the situation where you have 800 coins but have not yet purchased anything, only to lose the coins on a bad death.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What key opens contracts on PC?

G — press it immediately after spawning.

Should I accept every contract at once?

No — choose one primary and one backup that share a route. Too many objectives splits the squad.

What do I do if the carrier dies?

One player recovers the dropped item; the rest hold position. Never commit the whole squad to a recovery during active night.

When should I abandon a contract?

When it requires far-map travel near dusk, when the turn-in point is patrolled by the creature, or after two failed attempts.

Do contracts reset each night?

Yes — each session starts with a fresh set of available contracts.
