West Wood Consumables and Tools
Every utility item outside of weapons and traps.
West Wood’s inventory is split across consumables (food, water, bandages, coffees) and utility tools (tool kits, radars, copes). All of them appear in the wiki Wendigo counter list alongside bear traps, flamethrowers, and medallions. This page covers what each item does, when to spend it, and how to fit it into the Items Tier List framework.
Food and water
The most basic and most ignored consumables. Hunger and thirst tick down across each in-game day; below a certain threshold they begin damaging your health bar. Community trackers describe food and water as the highest-priority consumables because they are the only thing that prevents silent deaths from passive drain.
Use food and water:
- Before any cross-map sprint.
- After surviving a night, before the next daylight contract loop.
- Before any Night Delivery attempt.
The Hunger and Thirst guide covers the exact bars and thresholds in detail.
Bandages and medical kits
Bandages restore a moderate amount of health. Medical kits restore more but are rarer. Spend them:
- After a confirmed creature hit.
- Before entering a high-risk window (Blood Moon, trap escalation).
- After a window-grab special — you took damage plus relocation.
Do not stockpile bandages if it means letting food and water drain. The Tier List ranks food and water above bandages for the early game.
Tool kits
Tool kits appear in the wiki Wendigo counter list. Community reports describe them as either repair kits for structures or temporary boost consumables. The exact mechanic is not first-party published, so treat tool kits as situational and verify on your current server.
Radars
Radars reveal nearby creature pathing. The wiki Wendigo list includes them alongside bear traps and flamethrowers. Use a radar:
- Before placing Bear Traps so you know where to put them.
- Before committing to a sprint chain across map.
- When the creature is described as “nearby” by your squad but you need confirmation.
Radars do not affect creature behaviour. They only reveal where the creature is.
Copes
Copes appear in the wiki counter list. Community posts describe a brief invulnerability window. Treat a cope as:
- A panic button when the creature commits to a structure.
- A pair with the Flamethrower badge attempt.
- A single-use consumable — do not rely on it across an entire night.
Coffees
Coffees appear in the wiki counter list. Community posts describe them as a stamina-restoration or sprint-boost consumable. Use coffee:
- Before a confirmed chase.
- During a long cross-map contract turn-in.
- Pair with the Risk System plan when you are about to climb above 50 risk.
Do not consume a coffee before a calm daylight loop — it wastes the boost.
Item sourcing strategy
Build a layered inventory:
- Floor layer — keep at least two food and two water consumables on your character at all times. Top up at any lootable house.
- Mid layer — bandages, one radar, one cope. Spend only when the situation demands.
- Top layer — flamethrower, bear trap, or coffee. Save for the badge moment or the chase moment.
